The Student Council is an organisation within the school that governs many student-run facilities. To be granted the privilege of becoming a Student Council member is a prestigious appointment, as the Council members are given a lavish amount of budget and their own quarters, so running for Student Council is often an event in itself.

The Student Council makes their headquarters in the tallest tower of the Grand Hall, overlooking campus from above. The room is lavish, with rich, plush seats in royal purple, banners with the crest of Daybreak and the student council adorning the room, as well as individual offices for each member with their own desk, chair, and dedicated computer. The office has 24/7 catering from the dining hall, and food is delivered via golem within 20 minutes upon request. Their primary responsibilities are the planning and execution of various school events such as the school dances, as well as the administration, budgeting, approval, and room organization of the clubs on campus. Upon election, the student council may appoint up to six Seneschals to aid in the work of the council. All students who did not win their election will automatically have a chance to become a Seneschal, but they are not required to accept.

In keeping with the traditions of the student council, all members wear a special uniform that they are expected to be in at all times while on campus (unless they are taking part in other activities that require other attire). The uniform has the look of an archaic military academy uniform, with gold epaulettes, a white buttoned coatee and pants, and, if they are an elected official, a sash in the color of their office (red for the President, pink for the Vice President, orange for the Secretary and yellow for the Treasurer). Seneschals have silver epaulettes. For whatever reason, the Student Council is known to be preceded by a gust of rose petals as they move around campus, although the reason why has been lost to time. The rose petals will always reflect the color of the council member, with Seneschals all sharing the color white.

Additionally, all elected officials are presented with one of the four ceremonial blades of Daybreak Academy. These swords are all ornate rapiers with minds and wills of their own, dedicated to the safeguarding of the Academy and guiding its next generation of student leaders. The blades can communicate telepathically with their bearer, and will only serve the rightfully elected council member.

SWORDS OF THE COUNCIL

Ordre: The red blade, Ordre, is the sword of the President. Ordre is infused with the belief that maintaining discipline and order is vital to the function of the school. It asks its wielder to act with justice, integrity, and upstanding demeanor and is prone to lecturing on the mores of bygone days and how the current generation compares (typically unfavorably). When drawn, it creates a field around the president that grants their allies courage in the face of adversity.

Obéissance: The pink blade, Obéissance, is the sword of the Vice President. Obéissance is infused with the belief that the noblest of duties is that of service, and that through service to a greater good can ones true merit be judged. It asks its wielder to follow with precision the orders of the president and give their all to carrying out their will. It is pretty much incapable of thinking for itself and encourages its wielder to follow its example and defer to the president in all things. When drawn, it empowers those around it who are acting on direct orders of the President.

Témoin: The orange blade, Temoin, is the sword of the Secretary. Témoin is infused with the belief that all that is seen must be recorded with accuracy and without bias. It asks its wielder to meticulously note and record all actions of the council that they might be preserved for future generations to come. It has a habit of pointing out every detail, no matter how small or seemingly unimportant, and making sure it is recorded. When drawn, it allows its wielder to see their surroundings with greater clarity than they might have before.

Responsabilité: The yellow blade, Responsabilité is the sword of the Treasurer. Responsabilité is infused with the belief that those who hold the purse strings must use them responsibly and all who seek precious funds are to be scrutinized with utmost care so money is not carelessly spent. It often asks if an expense is REALLY necessary, no matter how vital that expense may be, and demands extensive justification for any spending at all. When drawn, it allows its wielder to identify the exact monetary value of any non-living item at a glance.
