Daybreak Academy is, ostensibly, an elite prep school reserved for the best and brightest. Shrouded in secrecy, its existence is not necessarily common knowledge in the same way that the haunts of the ultra-rich are not common knowledge, but the fact that a school like it exists is well within everyone's understanding. It is an officially recognized and accredited K-graduate international university said to only accept some of the best, most promising and most talented members of society that are handpicked by the administration itself. This is more or less accurate, and there are a few celebrities and world leaders who are themselves alumni of the Academy and can vouch for its sterling qualities. What isn't understood or said, of course, is that it is not an Academy for the absurdly rich, as most people believe. It is instead an Academy for those gifted beyond mortal limits.

The campus of Daybreak Academy is nestled in the Alps near the affluent university town of Soleil in the Rhône-Alpes region south of Lyon. The Academy is intended to be more or less self-sufficient, Soleil is in fact a front for the Academy's primary agricultural operations and the citizens of the village are themselves affiliated with the university. Both Daybreak Academy and Soleil are administered by the Watchers, a group of Seers and their attendants who have forseen the coming night and are working to avert it. The Academy is a sprawling campus built into the mountains themselves, with an enormous network of caverns that have been retrofitted into a hidden base with military-grade resources. The Academy is a school, but it is also a first response unit for supernatural threats. The deeply connected Watchers have managed to obtain a great deal of equipment that are well beyond the reach of civilians, and all of it is put to use to keep Daybreak, as well as its satellite response locations, operational and prepared.

Below are a few locales of interest within Daybreak Academy. More locations will be added as warranted, and players are welcome to submit suggestions that will be added if they fit the setting.

MAIN CAMPUS
The collection of stately buildings that make up Main Campus are where most classes take place. This collection of carefully assembled white structures shine with the promise of tomorrow. The halls are generally named for famous historical French figures, with the main class buildings being de Gaulle, Robespierre, La Pucelle, Monet, and Bernard.

STUDENT DORMITORIES
The Student Dormitories are a large collection of buildings on East side of campus. These large buildings of white stone can house hundreds of students comfortably. The rooms themselves are intended for two students, with beds bunked over desks, a shared closet, and a small drawer for personal items near the desk. The room itself is reasonably spacious, with a good amount of open floor space for reconfiguration and smaller furnishings, if desired. Two units share a single bathroom, with roommates and unit-mates assigned randomly unless otherwise requested. Dorm rooms are not gender or species segregated, who you end up rooming with is always an adventure if you haven't made prior arrangements.

Also available are some smaller apartment and studio dormitories. These are a bit more sparse, and are reserved for students who have been working on campus or taking part in response missions.

Unoccupied rooms are magically locked on windows and doors to prevent unauthorized entry. And due to the powerful forces students have, walls and floors are warded from all kinds of damage - and if somehow damaged despite the wards, it will slowly repair itself.

As of 1/14/19, six-foot rails have been installed on the roof of the Lumière Dormitory to prevent student mishaps.

(If there's a player plot or special interest to significantly alter the dorms in some fashion, please alert the mods)

FACULTY APARTMENTS
Due to the remote nature of Daybreak Academy, most staffers live on campus, although some choose to maintain a residence in Soleil. For those that do live on campus, the Academy provides modest one and two-bedroom apartments with their own living room, laundry, and kitchen facilities. Faculty can live alone or with a roommate at their own preference, and only have randomized roommates if they request it.

THE QUAD
The Quad is the defining architectural centerpiece of any University, and Daybreak Academy is no exception. Built in the style of the French Chateau, the Quad is the first thing one sees upon approach, either by land or air. Built into the face of the mountain, Daybreak's Quad is accessible by a massive staircase that leads up from the tiered parking garages carved unobtrusively into the mountain. Upon ascending the staircase, a visitor finds themselves face-to-face with the towering keep that serves as the main hall, its delicate white walls extending around it and enfolding the rest of the university. With blue spire roofs, the main hall stands as a central anchor to the campus's design. Leading up to the Main Hall is a massive courtyard reminiscent of the gardens of Palace Versailles. With a wide boulevard leading into a stunning fountain, the walls face massive rows of artfully manicured hedges tended by Runic Golems. Trees line the boulevard itself which leads right to the Main Hall entrance.

THE CROSS OF LIFE
A beautiful, pristine cross-shaped pond intersects the grounds between the collection of buildings that make up main campus. With the main cross spanning around 800 meters and the smaller cross around 100 meters, the pond is a large and impressive part of the grounds. A fountain sits at the center of the cross, with smaller fountains at each point. The fountains tend to be turned off in the winter, as the pond typically freezes over.

THE GRAND HALL
Accessible from any number of directions, the Grand Hall is the primary administrative building on campus, where most of the dedicated student affairs offices are. It is also home to the Banquet Hall, an enormous room with the capacity to hold all students and staff easily. Filled with enormous tables, the Banquet Hall serves sumptuous campus-wide dinners every night. The Grand Hall also is one of the main access points to the Citadel.

THE CITADEL
The Citadel is the name of the underground base beneath the Academy proper. It houses the Ouroboros, the massive alchemic generator that provides power to the entire Academy and the surrounding village. The Citadel holds a military hangar capable of servicing the Runewings, rune-enhanced modern military transport craft Daybreak Academy uses for its rapid response and deployment operations. Any Rune Armors used by students and staff are also housed here. Finally, it also contains Cassandra, a massive supercomputer that the Watchers use to focus and extrapolate upon their prophetic visions.

THE MYTHRIL CAGE
The Mythril Cage is a reinforced arena within the Citadel. Remote from the main control area, it is further encased in rune-enhanced concrete and steel. Most campus tournaments are held here, as are smaller-scale equipment and magic tests.

THE ANVIL OF HADUR
The Anvil of Hadur is a forge, machine shop and assembly line within the citadel. Carved into the lower base of the mountain, it has a broad factory space about two miles, and can handle a lot of high-precision fabrication. They can process most common and some exotic metals, and are used primarily to manufacture and fabricate Runic Inscriptions, parts for the Rune Wings and Rune Armor, and a variety of weaponry for student use. The Anvil employs a large number of Soleil residents, with a main operating crew of about 800 workers.

ROOT OF YGGDRASIL
The Root of Yggdrasil is a massive underground greenhouse that houses a number of experimental crop strains. Everything grown in the Root of Yggdrasil is grown purely with artificial light, and the space is laid out to optimize output. Students who are good with plants are able to use this facility to attempt to grow and develop their own strain of plants. The research done here will be integral to surviving Nightfall, and similar facilities are said to be in development under major cities all over the world.

THE ARENA OF TRIALS
Located about twenty miles into the Alps and accessible only by helicopter, the Arena of Trials is where major combat and spell tests are conducted. An open space carved into the mountains, the Arena is utilized semi-regularly for tests or more involved ability assessments that are too powerful for the Mythril Cage.

HALL OF PYTHIA
Named for the great Delphi Oracle, the Hall of Pythia is the campus library and bookstore. In addition to carrying all coursework for the classes offered in Daybreak, as well as a a robust collection of fiction and reference material, the Hall of Pythia is considered the premier collection of prophecies and predictions in the modern world. Any Seer who has ever lived, fradulent or genuine, has their entire body of work recorded, indexed and analysed in this library.

LEGIONNAIRE QUARTERS
Originally a literal quarter for the Roman Legionnaires who attended the Watchers, this area has been modernized into a massive, state-of-the art training facility and gym. With specialized equipment for abnormal residents, a full-sized Olympic pool, a large sauna, and several full-sized courts for a number of sports, the Legionnaire Quarter is open to all students 24 hours and has its own dining hall that specializes in high protein fare that is also open 24 hours.

THEATER LENORMAND
Named for the famous French Seer who attended Napoleon, Theater Lenormand is a state-of-the-art media center and where a majority of the communication-focused classes are held. Boasting a massive open computer lab, several full-sized movie screens, and connections to almost every channel, video game and radio station offered globally in one of its many 24-hour open lounges, there is little media that cannot be found in the Theater. It also serves as the helipad for one of the many helicopters Daybreak Academy employs that can be scheduled by students for short trips, typically to other locales in France, England, Germany, Italy and Spain. Finally, it also holds a number of auditoriums that are used for a variety of performances on campus.

MARKET SQUARE
Eschewing the typical red brick that comprises the squares of many American campuses, Market Square is a broad pavillion in the campus architectural style with semi-permanent stalls and some permanent storefronts and restaurants installed in the center of campus. Market square is staffed by merchants and labor from Soleil, and offers a wide variety of food and products of use to students, from school supplies to snack foods to rune-inscribed weaponry. Market Square opens at 6:00 AM every day and closes at 10:00 PM every night, and students are able to apply to sell or work there if they are interested, even creating their own stores or restaurants should they have the means.

ARCTIC SLOPES

The Arctic Slopes are a private ski and snowboarding resort connected to the Academy. With its prime location in the Alps, it's a great place for students to relax and unwind during the winter months. Ski and snowboard rentals are free to all students while it is open, and it offers regular lessons to those who are interested. The Arctic Slopes consists of an expansive lodge which contains an expansive kitchen and hostel for those hoping to spend several days on the slopes, as well as a number of lifts that can bring skiers and snowboarders to a number of slopes with varying difficulty.

EXPANSION PETITION
Daybreak Academy is a very wealthy school with a lot of resources. They do allow students and faculty to petition for additions to the campus. To petition for an addition, at least 3 students and one faculty member must sign on for a request to be considered and, if viable, it will be added to campus.

Hi mods! Would it be safe to assume that there's a (pre-existing) state-of-the-art research lab area in some corner of the Citadel complex, or would it be somewhere else on campus? I just want to make sure I'm setting Emille's second home office up in the proper place. Thank you!
