Daybreak Academy

Benefits:
All Faculty of Daybreak Academy have a comprehensive benefit package including 24/7 access to all school facilities for personal and professional use, guaranteed health care services, free daycare and pre-Kindergarten, and housing if required. Daybreak Academy subsidizes but does not fully fund housing within Soleil itself. All cafeterias are open to Faculty and presenting a Faculty ID will qualify the Faculty member to a free meal during any normal operating hours.

Intercom Use:
The school-wide and building-wide PA systems are accessible to all Faculty through a custom app that can be downloaded onto their phone. Transmitting to the intercoms is a simple matter of selecting the desired intercoms on the app and recording a message through your phone. This allows the quick dissemination of information in an emergency, and can also be used for other school-related matters such as calling individual students to a desired office, announcing club or class activities, or providing updates to the general status of the Academy should uncommon events occur. Use of the Intercom is to be treated with the respect and care befitting faculty of your position. Non-teaching Faculty may have reduced access based on their buildings of operation.

Hidden Passage Use:

When the Academy was rebuilt and established in the form it appears today, the main campus buildings were outfit with hidden passages that allowed quick traversing of campus while avoiding most foot traffic. All Faculty are encouraged to make use of these passages when needed to access the desired rooms and get where they need to be in a timely fashion. Please note all Faculty lounges are hidden within these passages, so Faculty are able to relax away from the prying eyes of the student body. As the exit of each passage is equipped with a viewing hole, please ensure no students are in the area before exiting, while students often become aware of the passages and will try to access them if they can it the administration would like them to remain as clear as possible. In the event of an emergency or an attack on campus, students can be lead through the passages to safety. The passages are all connected and any building can be accessed through them, as well as every floor on every building.

Discipline:
During your time at Daybreak Academy, you will sometimes find yourself required to discipline students. However, as we strive to maintain a professional and safe environment for students, there are certain restrictions on the measures that may be taken to discipline students, ultimately we feel Faculty should earn the respect of their students through empathy and competence instead of enforcing compliance through force.
No Faculty member may place their hands upon a student for disciplinary purposes unless the student is placing other students in imminent danger or the student is making unwanted contact with another student, in which case the student may be separated or, if necessary, subdued.
In the case of students sleeping in class, loud noises or thrown markers, chalk or erasers can be employed but only at a force that will startle but not injure the student.
Grades cannot be reduced for poor behavior. Academic performance is to only be measured by a student’s performance on their assigned duties, not how well they comply with a Faculty member’s personal disciplinary preferences
All desks in every classroom are equipped with runes of silencing. If a student is acting out, the rune may be activated to prevent the noise from distracting the rest of the student body.

Conduct:
Faculty of Daybreak Academy are expected to conduct themselves to the highest standards of behavior. You represent the best the Academy has to offer and your job is to nurture young minds to take their place in the world and, ultimately, save us all. It is important that you accord yourself thoughtfully and carefully in all that you do, setting a good example for those who will be the leaders of our future.
Faculty are under no circumstances to become romantically involved with any student. It’s not uncommon for younger students to develop romantic feelings for their teachers, and this is to be handled with delicacy and care. Even in the case of graduate students, the power of a Faculty member is such that a relationship is highly inappropriate and could be seen as coercive. There are no issues with Faculty members becoming romantically involved with each other.
Use of powers in the presence of students should be kept to instructional use whenever possible, or to protect students if they are endangered. Faculty at Daybreak are often considered to be among the most powerful individuals in the known world, and displays of excessive strength can be overwhelming to unprepared students.
The safety of students is paramount. A Faculty member must at all times be prepared to protect their students from any and all forms of danger. Faculty are expected to do whatever it takes to bring home every student in their charge alive.
While it is expected that many Faculty members will form close bonds with the students they work with, in all disciplinary matters they are expected to remain impartial. Faculty are not to sit in judgement of students who they work closely with (such as students in a club they advise, or homeroom students), and should be expected to recuse themselves if they feel their relationship with the student might result in undue favor. It is important that students exist in a fair environment that judges them consistently on their actions, and Faculty bending the rules for students destroys this most important lesson.
Faculty are to be the first point of contact with normal law enforcement and authorities. Should an incident occur where they or their students are sought for arrest, they are to remove their students from the area as quickly as possible, while causing as little damage and harm as possible.
Consumption of alcoholic beverages or similar mind-altering substances while on duty is strictly prohibited, whether or not you are physically capable of getting drunk or otherwise impaired. You must at all times set a good example for students and what is appropriate behavior.
