APPLICATIONS ARE PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Daybreak Academy is now over, and has been converted into an AU sandbox/dressing room setting. It ran from January 2019 and ended in March 2021.

This page remains as an archive of applicants and its former state as a RP game.


As of December 1, 2020, applications from NEW PLAYERS are no longer allowed. FORMER AND CURRENT PLAYERS, however, are welcome to reapply with old characters (or to introduce new ones), if desired.

If returning with an old character, feel free to reuse your old apps, though we ask that you elaborate on what they've been doing in their absence in their history.


Welcome to Daybreak Academy's applications page. Make sure that you have read through our FAQs and Taken pages before applying. Applications are always open, unless stated otherwise.
      ► Daybreak Academy is an Alternate Universe game. All characters being applied into the game must create an AU background to fit into the established setting.

      ► Original Characters are permitted in Daybreak Academy, but they must be designed to fit the setting.

      ► All applications will be processed within 72 hours of receipt, on a first-come-first-serve basis.

      ► Players can have up to 3 characters in the game.

      ► Applicants have the option to provide sample thread(s) with their applications, or answering 10 questions from the IC Interview Questionnaire.

      ► Being an AU game, canon-point isn't required for the app. It is generally recommended that student characters be modeled after earlier points in their personal canon and faculty characters be modeled after mid-or-late canon when appropriate.

      ► No player may play more than 1 faculty member at a time.

      FOR CURRENT PLAYERS: POWER UPDATING

      ► Keep track of where your initial application comment for each character is! It can be used as a toplevel comment to submit power updates for mod approval.

      Always use this comment first to make any clarifications or updates to your character's abilities.

      ► If you are using powers that have been established by other players, please discuss it with those players first and get approval/permission before submitting it as a power upgrade.

Magic Transfusion: Ekkehardt can use specially made equipment to do emergency transfusions of magic, blood, or any other equivalent vital fluid or force. He converts his own magic at an uneven ratio to produce the results he needs, and it requires complete concentration on his part.

Since it requires focus and a great deal of magic from him, Ekkehardt's ability to make transfusions in this way is limited to emergencies. The product of the conversion cannot be preserved or contained, and is only able to be transferred directly.

Shadow Projection: Gained from the Herald dream event. Ekkehardt can split his consciousness to create a shadowy copy of himself that can phase through walls and blend with other shadows. It is also capable of basic physical interaction (opening/closing doors, picking up items, etc). He shares its senses and can speak through it, but he can also let it autopilot to some degree (able to patrol or scout by itself, but not attack or interact). If attacked, it dissolves and returns to him, transferring the memories of what it experienced back to him. He needs to be somewhere in the general area to project this copy; he can't use it to project over long distances, like to a different country.

Dead Zone: Gained from visiting Death's domain. Ekkehardt can create barriers around himself or others that let air through and defend against intrusion or attacks. He needs to focus to maintain them and actively defending against attacks takes magic; the more powerful the attack, the more magic he burns up. Spirits and other creatures that have an undead nature are able to pass through with only minor discomfort.
